SUBJECTS AND COURSES
Students at CSC study towards NCEA, the NZ National Certificate of Education Achievement. This makes courses of study available over three levels, with many different styles of assessment – internal, external, written, and practical. Central Southland College academic results are consistently at or above national averages for similar schools in NZ. In addition, a very high proportion of our leaving students go straight to either further study, (university or polytechnics) or to full-time employment.

We believe that young people grow in character, social skills, cooperation and teamwork, pride, and self-esteem through involvement in sporting and cultural activities. We also believe that such activities build a more positive, exciting and engaging environment for students to learn in, and that relationships built with staff outside the classroom can be very beneficial inside the classroom as well.
Central Southland College offers an enviable range of such activities. Our school boasts one of the highest rates of participation in Southland, and our Show Quest and Major Musical Productions are annual highlights for many. Extra-curricular activities are encouraged at CSC, and we have a reputation for punching above our weight in competition, participation and contributions to the community.
